What is Thermowood?
Thermowood is a beautiful sustainable timber manufactured by a chemical free heat treatment to very high temperatures. Preservatives are injected into the wood to ensure durability and zero maintenance
Thermowood is created by heat treating Scandinavian softwood to temperatures ranging from 180 – 230°. Thermowood is resistant to rot and fungi.
What is British Larch?
British larch is a tough and naturally durable softwood grown in local woodlands ideal for external cladding in exposed areas
British larch ranges in colour from pinky-brown in the heartwood, to creamy-white in the sap band.
Depending on the grade, there will be some or many dark brown knots and occasional resin pockets along the length of the board.
British larch weathers relatively slowly, often taking two years to reach a silver-grey patina. Larch is quite consistent and is not reactive, and as such, will weather relatively evenly. Northerly elevations may weather to a darker grey than those facing South.
What is Cedar Wood?
Western Red Cedar is sourced from the Pacific Northwest from Northern California to Alaska.
Cedar is a modern fashionable and beautiful timber with colour ranges from light golden to mid dark brown and a slight tint of red. Left untreated, the Cedar will naturally weather into a beautiful natural silver finish.
+add uv protection
Another option is to add a UV protection oil, we recommend OSMO UV Protection oil, it enhances the natural character of the wood and contains biocides to protect against algae, mildew and fungal attack.
UV-Protection Oil has been developed to maintain the wood’s natural colour and slow the greying process by (UV factor) 12 times in comparison to untreated wood.
As a growing company, it’s important to make sure that we are doing everything in our power to be as eco-friendly as possible and reduce our impact on the environment and natural resources.
All the timber we use on our projects is FSC certified and sources from sustainable forest programmes. We do this to not only be sustainable, but also to enable us to source only the best timber we can get our hands on.
Our vision for 2022 and beyond is to focus more on becoming a more positive climate workforce and to make a conscious effort when it comes to sourcing materials and recycling.
